Afghan police kill Taliban in Northern Afghanistan PDF Print E-mail

Dozens of Taliban rebels were killed in gunfire with Police in northern Kunduz province, a press release of the Afghan Ministry of Defense said.

 

According Afghan officials, Taliban attacked on Afghan army and police in Imam Shaib district of restive Kunduz province in north, but face with the resistance of government soldiers. The press release said: “the Afghan army and police in Kunduz province fought Taliban in northern part of Amu River and pursed the insurgents into a jungle and killed 7 Taliban”.

According to Afghan army, Taliban left their dead bodies on the scene of the war and their dead bodies have been taken to the nearest hospital in Kunduz. Taliban didn’t share any comment about the Kunduz gunfire.

Meanwhile, ISAF searched a series of buildings in Kunduz known to be used by a Taliban element for financial and logistical support the Taliban operations in the region. The place of the operation and the number of are not clear yet and ISAF troops didn’t comment about it. The incident took place in a time that Afghanistan is facing with the powerful series of attacks and turbulences after Taliban fall in 2001.

Since the beginning of the week, ISAF troops along with their Afghan counterparts have launched a series of operations against the insurgents in all the country. At the same time, a video released by a group of Taliban, shows that police in northern Baghlan province are submitting their weapons to the Taliban insurgents.

The Afghan Ministry of Interior expressed concern over the release of this video.A spokesperson for the MoI says that this Ministry will track this case and find the sources.

Recently Taliban moved the war and insecurity from their main heartland in southern Afghanistan to north, the safe region of the country. In a separate incident, a huge depot of landmines was found and naturalized in southern Afghanistan, the Afghan Defense Ministry said on Monday.

According to Afghan Defense Ministry, during a search operation in Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, joint troops found a depot of Taliban where more then 50 landmines were hidden there. The mines were naturalized by the International troop’s station in Kandahar province.The Afghan Defense Ministry charges the “enemies of Afghanistan”, a word that been using for the Taliban for the use of these mines.

Military officials said that a mine blow up and wounded one foreigner soldier, who has immediately taken to Kandahar field hospital for treatment. In another incident, in neighbor Uruzgan province, Afghan and International troops eliminated a group of Taliban insurgents in Charchanoy district of Uruzgan province.

The press office of Afghan Defense Ministry says that joint troops recovered three rocket launchers, one PKM gun, four AK-47 guns and one motorbike of the insurgents from the scene. No one from joint troops were killed or wounded in the incident. In another incident in Khost province, the joint troops have launched a search operation in Ali Shir district of Khost province to disrupt the Taliban activities there. During the search, joint troops found five AK-47 guns from the buildings. No one was detained in relevancy to the incident.

Israeli bulldozers demolish storehouses near Nablus

 Israeli military bulldozers began demolishing 12 agricultural storehouses in the Tana neighborhood east of Nablus in the West Bank on Sunday. Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official in charge of settlement-related issues in the northern West Bank, said five Israeli bulldozers and more than 15 military jeeps stormed the area and began the demolition process.

Tehran insists that the site, under construction near the city of Qom, is being built in line with United Nations regulations, though this is contested.

Early reports from the US side from the Pittsburgh summit suggest world leaders have decided to make the G20 the prime global body for economic decision-making. If such impressions are confirmed this is a substantial shift in international power arrangements.
